ProFiL Programme in the Berlin University Alliance supports women scholars pursuing a professorship

The 18th funding round of the ProFiL Programme offers space for 66 high-achieving women scholars from the integrated research area of the Berlin University Alliance. From July 2025 to July 2026, the selected participants develop career strategies and prepare for the leadership and management tasks of a professorship. The successful ProFiL Programme of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Technische Universität Berlin has been running since 2004 and has been expanded as part of the Berlin University Alliance to offer additional places and an English-language program line for international women academics. Applications for the new funding round are open until November 15.

Berlin Universities Publishing (BerlinUP), the academic publisher in the Berlin University Alliance, has become one of the first university publishers in the German-speaking world to support authors with a guideline on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic publications. The guideline is available online.

“innovate! Center” Proposed by Berlin University Alliance among Finalists for 30 Million Euros in Funding from Joachim Herz Foundation

The Berlin University Alliance has reached the final stage of a call for proposals issued by the Joachim Herz Foundation. The aim is to establish an innovative transfer center that will focus on “New Materials for Sustainable Technology.” The winner will receive 30 million euros over a maximum funding period of ten years. Four other projects have reached the final selection round alongside the application from the Berlin University Alliance. Eighteen entries were originally received for the competition.
