Which documents must be submitted?

  1. Application form (online) with information about the applicants and their motivation, with information about the planned research project and the institutional affiliation. For this purpose, the online application must be filled out.

  2. Project outline (maximum three pages, additional page containing bibliography if required) with a description of the planned research project, with a timetable over 12 months, an assessment of potential participating students and, if applicable, ideas for possible cooperation with other actors or institutions. The notes on the project outline provide more detailed information on how the outline should be structured and what to look for in each block.

  3. Optional - Application for material or travel resources up to a maximum of 750 euro; a prerequisite for the approval is that the resources are necessary for carrying out the project or would clearly enhance the research of the X-Tutorial. The notes on applying for material or travel resources provide more detailed information on what can be applied for and what needs to be taken into account here.

  4. Supervision agreement provided by a subject-specific supervisor: To ensure that the X-Tutorial can be implemented without major problems, professional supervision is helpful. Applicants should therefore look for a subject-specific supervisor in good time, who will support the project in advance but also during the X-Tutorial. He or she also has the option of awarding credit points to the participating students for their participation in the X-Tutorial. Subject-specific supervisors can be professors (including junior or deputy professors) or research assistants. Applicants should therefore ask their supervisor to assure them of this support. The supervision agreement form must be filled out for this purpose.

  5. Form - Proof of institutional affiliation: In order for the X-Tutorial to be implemented smoothly, organizational support (e.g. in booking rooms, laboratory space or technology) is required from the department. The X-Tutorial therefore requires an institutional affiliation. This affiliation is ensured by a professor who is informed about the proposal and who assures with his/her signature to support the project in organizational matters. For this purpose, the institutional affiliation form must be filled out and signed.
