What is good research? How can the quality of research and its results be assessed and ensured on a sustainable manner?

For the Berlin University Alliance, research quality is both an institutional goal and a field of research. The four partner institutions are pursuing a joint strategy to strengthen the value, quality, integrity, and credibility of research.

Center for Open and Responsible Research (CORe)

CORe bundles the different scientific and professional expertise of the partner institutions and supports them in developing and consolidating a shared understanding of values, taking into account their specific research cultures.

Open Science and OpenX Initiative

One of the central goals of the Berlin University Alliance is to promote and intensify open science practices. This is how the excellence alliance responds to current developments in science policy and scientific practice.

Ensuring and strengthening the quality of research involves shaping the framework conditions in such a way that excellent research is possible – be it “Blue Sky” research or research that addresses concrete societal challenges.

Education and Training Offers

The Berlin excellence alliance supports education and training measures that impart theoretical and practical knowledge in the subject areas of research quality and open science and contributes to their dissemination.

Exchange and Networking

Objective 3 promotes the exchange and networking of the Berlin, national and international scientific community. With regular and topic-related events, it actively contributes to debates on research quality and open science.
