Presentation at the online colloquium of the Objective 3 - Advancing Research Quality and Value of the Berlin University Alliance.
In the first session after the summer break, Lutz Prechelt, Professor of Computer Science and Head of the Software Engineering working group at Freie Universität Berlin, will present the Review Quality Collector (RQC) initiative he has launched. RQC issues reviewers with a receipt for their work for each journal year. In contrast to the Publons system, which has existed for some time, this does not simply certify the number of reviews, but their quality.
In the session, Professor Prechelt will discuss the usefulness of the RQC in terms of improving the quality of scientific peer reviews. Furthermore, it will be discussed to what extent the RQC can contribute to the recognition of peer review in terms of reputation building and to a holistic understanding in the assessment of research performance.
The meeting is part of the international Peer Review Week, which this year is themed "Innovation and Technology in Peer Review". Peer Review Week is a central platform that brings together researchers, publishers, editors and other stakeholders in the scientific community to promote discussion, share insights and recognize the important contributions made to the peer review process.
The colloquium is aimed at scientists of all status groups and interested parties from all scientific and non-scientific fields. The colloquium is organized as part of Objective 3: Advancing Research Quality and Value. It always takes place on the last Wednesday of the month from 14:00 to 15:30.
