Into the Great Wide Open?

Sep 18, 2024 - Sep 20, 2024

The aim of the event is to explore the complicated dynamics between concepts of openness and closedness in science, technology and innovation and to highlight their implications for research, policy and practice.

The International Science, Technology and innovation Indicators Conference brings together researchers, STI producers and users, as well as other stakeholders to critically discuss and reflect advances in constructing, using, and interpreting science and technology indicators. The focus of this year’s conference is on Open Science. Under the heading “Into the great wide open?” experts will discuss notions of openness, whether and how these can be operationalized and, made accessible for observation and evaluation. This year’s conference organized by Fraunhofer ISI, the Robert K. Merton Center for Science Studies at Humboldt-University and the German Centre for Higher Education Research and Science Studies (DZHW) and supported by the Berlin University Alliance will be held in Berlin, 18-20 September.
