The recent efforts of Prof. Peter Neubauer and Prof. Moritz Riede, Vice Presidents of the Oxford Berlin Research Partnership in STEM, led up to a series of meetings and workshops in science and technology, which took place in the last week of October at Oxford. The events focused on establishing foundational approaches for stronger collaboration among researchers from BUA and Oxford, and exploring synergies across work groups.

News from Nov 12, 2024

The workshops centered on three key topics:

  1. Biocatalysis, with an emphasis on hydrogenase enzymes
  2. Automation and AI in bioprocess optimization and intensification
  3. Energy, with dedicated subgroups on photovoltaics, batteries, and bioenergy

The workshops brought together 13 researchers from Berlin universities and other research institutions, including TU Berlin, HU Berlin, UniSysCat, and Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin für Materialien und Energie (HZB), along with 14 scholars from various Oxford institutions.

These events were highly successful in aligning research efforts, sparking ideas for future collaborative projects, and discussing joint applications for open funding opportunities in 2025. Moreover, plans were initiated for a larger STEM conference/workshop in conjunction with the Innovation Symposium 2025 at Oxford.
