Karen Leeder shortlisted for ALTA translation award
There are six titles on the 2024 National Translation Award in Poetry Shortlist

Professor Karen Leeder, Einstein BUA/Oxford Visiting Fellow and Vice Academic Director of the Oxford Berlin Research Partnership, is shortlisted for the 2024 National Translation Awards (NTA) in Poetry for the translation of German poet Ulrike Almut Sandig's "Shining Sheep".

2024 is the 26th year that the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) is awarding the prestigious prize to translators. The winners will be announced on October 26th at an Awards Ceremony as part of ALTA’s annual conference, ALTA47: Voices in Translation, in Milwaukee, WI. The winning translators will receive a $4,000 cash prize each. The longlists, comprising 24 titles total, were announced on September 5, 2024 and can be found here.
