On October 23, 2024, the Diversity & Gender Equality Network (DiGENet) of the Berlin University Alliance, in collaboration with BR50, invites you to the strategy workshop "From Inclusion to Belonging."

This exclusive workshop, led by internationally renowned Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion expert Professor Kelly Hannah-Moffat (Vice-President for People Strategy, Equity, and Culture at the University of Toronto), offers a unique opportunity to adapt DEI strategies to your institution’s context.

The focus will be on practical approaches that promote a culture of belonging, going beyond traditional inclusion measures. Diversity is not only discussed in terms of the framework for successful research, but increasingly as a key condition for a crucial factor in institutional development overall. We will explore these approaches and examine the success factors for effective strategy implementation, the role of leadership in this field, and how a culture of belonging can benefit Berlin as a research hub.

In addition to an inspiring keynote by Prof. Hannah-Moffat, sharing her progress in fostering a culture of belonging at the University of Toronto, the workshop will feature case studies from Berlin research institutions. Participants will engage in interactive sessions via "Reverse Brainstorming," to collaboratively develop innovative solutions.

This workshop is designed for leaders, decision-makers, and strategy officers in the areas of diversity and gender equity, who are looking for valuable insights from practical examples in international and Berlin-based research institutions to drive transformative changes in their organizations. Connect with top DEI experts from Berlin's research institutions and collaboratively develop new strategies that facilitate sustainable change.

Workshop highlights:

  • Keynote by Prof. Kelly Hannah-Moffat
  • Case studies from Berlin research institutions
  • Reverse Brainstorming for collaborative problem-solving
  • Networking with leading DEI experts
