Within their new partnership, which was established in October 2018, the University of Melbourne and the members of the Berlin University Alliance – Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité – Universitätsmedizin – are seeking to strengthen their already existing links as well as to stimulate new research collaborations between the five institutions.

Through the Call for Proposals, funds can be awarded for, among other things, workshops, short-term research stays, and travel grants, including for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers. Applications may be submitted by full-time researchers from at least one of the participating Berlin institutions and the University of Melbourne, who are planning a joint research project. The deadline for submissions is 15 April 2019, and approved applications will be able to commence their work from June 2019 onward.
