Despite the emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the attractiveness of touristic city spots can still be revived thanks to modern digital solutions. In the X-Student Research Group 'Adapting touristic augmented reality towards the users' needs,' we intend to explore how to improve User Experience (UX) and Augmented Reality (AR) for touristic scenarios. Therefore, students will learn about AR technology and design and develop applications considering such factors, discussing novelty approaches, implementing adaptivity modules, and validating it with users.
This project is perfect for multidisciplinary teams as it has a broad reach across different fields (e.g., computer science, engineering, design, psychology, etc.). The main research question is: Can we adapt the content of a touristic augmented reality application towards the liking of an individual user? This semester we will extend and finalize the prototype which was developed in the last semester.
