Statistical methods evaluation via advanced simulation techniques
Leiter: Dr. Martin Hecht, Institut für Psychologie, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und Benjamin Becker, Institut zur Qualitätsentwicklung im Bildungswesen, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin; Institutionelle Anbindung der X-Student Research Group: Institut für Psychologie, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
In this project, the necessary skills for planning, conducting and evaluating simulation-based evaluation approaches for statistical methods can be acquired and implemented in an own research project. In the first part of the course, the basics of simulation techniques (especially objectives, design, reporting) as well as their technical implementation in the statistical software R will be discussed. In the practical part of the course, participants will then independently conduct a simulation study to answer a self-developed research question in the context of a method evaluation. The research question can be related to a statistical method or model of the participants' own choice or come from the topic area of longitudinal modeling. Presentation of the results at a student research conference is encouraged and supported.
