The renaming comes with a new organizational structure with a sponsoring association of the same name, headed by Dr. Heide Ahrens, general secretary of the DFG, and consisting of the member organisations of the Alliance of Science Organisations. The establishment of a registered association enables the funding of the committee and their office through the DFG.

The ombuds committee and their office continue to confidentially advise members of German research institutions on questions of research integrity and in conflicts related to good research practice.
