“Mall Anders”: Open Learning Lab for More Exchange between Science and Society
From December 1, 2021, to February 28, 2022, students, interested parties, citizens, and scientists exchanged ideas with researchers on pressing questions of the future and proposed solutions as part of a learning lab funded by the Berlin University Alliance.
The interactive events offer space to discuss topics such as social urban development, sustainable consumption, the right to repair, pop music as a form of political communication, and the future of teaching at universities. “Mall Anders” offers space for pop-up exhibitions, science dialogs, ten-minute lectures, workshops, performances and artistic interventions, panel events, and student project workshops.
Audre Lorde-BUA-Guestprofessorship for Intersectional Diversity Studies
Prof. Dr. Maisha M. Auma has accepted the first Audre Lorde guest professorship of the Berlin University Alliance. The “Audre Lorde-BUA-Guest Professorship for Intersectional Diversity Studies” is intended to diversely shape Berlin as a research hub on par with the reality of urban society. The guest professorship is named after the Caribbean-American writer, library scientist, and English professor Audre Lorde.
As an educational scientist and gender researcher, Maisha M. Auma bundles and updates research approaches that deal with unevenly distributed social power, privilege structures, and barriers to inclusion. In the interview, Maisha M Auma talks about her seminar series “Yallah Diversity!”, the diversity network DiGENet, and the diversity of Berlin research.
