Berlin and Oxford jointly research Global Health
OX|BUA Centre for Advanced Studies of the Berlin University Alliance launches call for proposals on Global Health
News from May 17, 2021
The OX|BUA Centre for Advanced Studies (OX|BUA CAS) fosters excellent cooperative research initiatives between the University of Oxford and the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) on topics related to global health. New and innovative research approaches are needed that, together with international partners, will identify solutions to urgent global health problems. Thereby, the focus will be on the fight against antimicrobial resistance, pandemic lessons and future pandemic prevention as well as the potentials of Digital Health and Artificial Intelligence for global health care. In doing so, the OX|BUA CAS call for proposals complements the BUA's Grand Challenge Initiative (GCI) on Global Health. The deadline for applications is July 15, 2021. An information session will be offered to interested parties on June 4.
Cooperation groups consisting of researchers from at least one BUA partner institution – Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin – and the University of Oxford can apply for funding of up to 333,000 euros per project over a period of 24 months.
Launched in 2020, the OX|BUA CAS strengthens the existing research partnership between Oxford and Berlin and supports outstanding researchers conducting research on topics including the BUA Grand Challenge Initiatives. The aim is also to create flexible academic structures that enable international and interdisciplinary research without major bureaucratic hurdles. Following in the footsteps of the first GCI Social Cohesion, the OX|BUA CAS is already funding three interdisciplinary projects that explore themes around social cohesion.
