Through the establishment of the Berlin Center for Global Engagement (BCGE), the Berlin University Alliance is creating a platform for existing and new projects in the fields of (1) research on, from, and with the Global South, (2) science diplomacy, and (3) academic freedom. The Inaugural Call BCGE 2020 explicitly invites submissions from all academic and scientific disciplines. Applications should be submitted by June 30.

Awards may range from €10,000.00 to a maximum of €40,000.00 per project. Project proposals should focus on partnerships and collaborations with international partners, especially in the Global South, and people working in practical fields (i.e. outside of academia). Proposals that incorporate innovative online formats are also of particular interest. Applicants are encouraged to find novel ways to combine knowledge and approaches from various disciplines with Berlin’s unique strengths in area studies and country-specific expertise.

The BCGE will organize an online seminar to present the Call for Proposals and answers questions from interested researchers on June 4, 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and on June 10, 10:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. (CET). To register, please send an email to: bcge@berlin-university-alliance.de.
