What comes after your PhD?
February 19 is Career Day for all doctoral students at Freie Universität, Humboldt-Universität, and Technische Universität
News from Feb 06, 2019
Not everyone who completes a doctoral degree plans to have an academic career. An upcoming Career Day is being held to give doctoral candidates information about different possibilities for careers both inside and outside academia. Entitled Sailing ahead – What your Phd can do for you, the Career Day is aimed at doctoral candidates who are interested in discovering where their degree can lead them following graduation and how a doctoral degree and the essential skills acquired along the way can be translated into a successful career both inside and outside of academia, such as politics and the public sector, industry, or communications and research management.
The invited speakers work in different areas and will talk about their daily work and their background. An overview will present facts about typical academic careers. The presentations will be in German and/or English.
The Career Day is organized by doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows of Freie Universität Berlin and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. They are supported by the strategic centers for early career researchers at Freie Universität Berlin (Dahlem Research School), Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Humboldt Graduate School), and Technische Universität Berlin (TU-Doc).
