The Einstein Foundation Berlin has recognized the Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO) as an Einstein Doctoral Programme in 2019. Within BSIO scientists at Charité-Universitätsmedizin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine, and other partner organizations work together with one common goal: research on cancer. BSIO offers an integrative, three-year doctoral program in oncological research for researchers from the natural sciences and medical researchers as well as researchers in the social sciences.

The award money is 450,000 euros over a three-year period. The award was presented by the Governing Mayor of Berlin and Berlin Senator for Science and Research, Michael Müller, during the New Year’s reception of the Einstein Foundation on January 23, 2019, in the Meistersaal.

The Einstein Award for Doctoral Programmes awarded by the Einstein Foundation Berlin honors particularly well-structured doctoral programs at Berlin’s universities and Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. The purpose of the award is to give the doctoral programs new financial leeway to promote junior researchers and further their structural development. At the same time, the awards are also designed to enhance the appeal and international visibility of doctoral studies in Berlin.
