The Academic Freedom Network is a platform established as a partnership between Humboldt University of Berlin, Free University of Berlin, Academics in Solidarity, Off-University, Einstein Fellows Research Group and The New University in Exile Consortium (The New School, NY, USA). There are four main goals:
- To build a network between researchers at risk and a larger academic community.
- To promote research cooperation and discussion on academic freedom with regard to the shared problems of the researchers, such as political pressure, precariousness, as well as public health, and climate change.
- To enhance the cross-organizational cooperation between the individual initiatives by setting up a platform to expand common capacities, as well as the exchange of information and strategies.
- To support the goals of the BCGE and the BUA, to consolidate academic freedom, to make it visible and to promote it.
