Impressions of Our Youth Workshops
Workshop 1
The first workshop was about science and its working methods. The young people got to know each other and got introduced to the topic: Together with experts, they talked about previous Grand Challenges and got a good understanding of the associated goals of the Berlin University Alliance. In a second step, the young people worked out global fields of action based on the Sustainable Development Goals and discussed how the world can be improved in the various fields.
Workshop 2
The second workshop picked up directly where the first one left off: In a creative workshop, the young people defined their goals for a better world and addressed the associated challenges. They then made an initial prioritization.
Workshop 3
In the third workshop, the young people learned various techniques of scientific research, with the help of which they were able to further develop the content of their topic proposals.
Idea Camp day 1
On the first day of the Idea Camp, the young people familiarized themselves with the form for submitting topic proposals for the Next Grand Challenge. In a writing workshop, they then met scientists from the subject areas that matched their topic proposals. The scientists supported the young people in further developing the content of their proposals. The young people were pleased to have the opportunity to get in touch with the scientists and to be supported and taken seriously by them.
Idea Camp day 2
On the second day of the Idea Camp, the young people worked the feedback from the previous day into their topic proposals and finalized them. The result: exciting and well-informed proposals for the Next Grand Challenge.
Idea Camp day 3
On the third and final day of the Idea Camp, the young people prepared for the Next Grand Challenge Forum in spring 2023: They learned to argue for their own topic proposal and to present it convincingly. At a closing ceremony, the young people presented their topic proposals and received a certificate for their dedicated participation. We look forward to the young people's participation in the Next Grand Challenge Forum!
