Date: May 6, 2025, 1:00–5:00 pm
Venue: Festsaal Luisenstraße, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
Event Language: English
We are pleased to invite you to our DiGENet Dialogues, held in honor of this year’s Audre Lorde Visting Professorship under the theme “Sustainable Synergies: Uniting Gender, Diversity, and Global South Voices.”
Inaugural Lecture, Audre Lorde Visting Professorship 2025
The event will begin with the inaugural lecture by Prof. Angela Dziedzom Akorsu, University of Cape Coast on:
“Gender Division of Labour, Women’s Work and the Sustainability Question: The Case of Ghana”
In her talk, Prof. Akorsu will explore how gender-based division of labor impacts the sustainability debate and what opportunities arise for both research and practice.
Project Spotlights
Afterward, three projects from the Berlin research community will be presented, offering diverse perspectives on the intersections of gender studies, diversity, and sustainability.
Moderated DiGENet Dialogue
The highlight of the event is a dialogic discussion in which experts from the BUA will examine how the UN Sustainable Development Goals can be approached from a transregional gender research perspective. This includes a focus on colonial continuities in global production systems and international divisions of labor. The discussion will also address how gender-specific power imbalances—particularly in work relations—are reinforced and which concrete steps can be taken to create sustainable and equitable structures.
Take this opportunity to
-
gain new insights,
-
network with fellow DiGENet members,
-
and exchange ideas and approaches that place gender and diversity at the center of sustainable research and institutional development.
